Does Commuter L1 fit my exact Galaxy Z Flip model?
Yes — Commuter L1 is precision-tooled separately for Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 6, and Z Flip 5. Select your exact model above before adding to cart. The two-piece shell, spring-hinge bridge, card slot, and camera cutouts are all molded to under 0.1mm tolerance for each device, so the cover-screen window, FlexCam dual lens, side button, USB-C port, and speaker grilles all line up perfectly.
How does the built-in card slot work? How many cards can it hold?
The card slot is integrated into the back panel of the bottom half — slide cards in from the top, and a recessed lip holds them snug. It comfortably holds up to 2 bank-thickness cards (debit, credit, transit, ID, or hotel keycard). The slot is sized to grip cards firmly so they won't slip out in your pocket, but loosen with a thumb push when you need them. RFID-blocking sleeves from your bank work fine inside the slot if you want extra security.
How does the spring hinge work? Will it stay closed when I'm not holding it?
Absolutely. The spring-loaded hinge bridge connects the top and bottom shells with an internal torsion spring tuned to the Flip's own fold tension. Past about 30°, the spring takes over and automatically rebounds the case shut — no need to press it closed. Open past 90° and it holds whatever angle you set (great for FlexCam selfies and table-top video). The mechanism is rated for 200,000+ open-close cycles, matching Samsung's own hinge spec.
How tough is it? What about the soft-touch finish?
Commuter L1 uses a polycarbonate hardshell with a soft-touch matte coating that resists fingerprints, smudges, and scratches. The hinge bridge is reinforced with internal ribs, and the corner bumpers are over-molded to absorb impact. Lab-tested to MIL-STD-style drop protocols from 1.2m onto concrete — corners, hinge, and back panel all survive without cracking. Will wireless charging still work? And is the cover screen protected?
Yes to both. The back panel is thin enough that Qi wireless charging works through the case — drop your Flip on any wireless pad without removing it (remove cards from the slot first to avoid magnetic interference). The cover-screen window is precision-cut with a 0.5mm raised bezel that lifts the FlexWindow display off any flat surface when you set the phone face-down.
