It's expected at Samsung Unpacked on 22 July 2026, with retail units following in early August. Every case below is a FoldifyCase design we'll re-cut and fit-test for the Z Fold 8 within days of the first teardown — and each one is in stock today for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, 6 and 7, with a Z Fold 8 variant added the moment final dimensions are confirmed. We update this guide on launch day. Last updated 15 June 2026.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the most-leaked Samsung foldable in years — and the single change that matters most for case buyers isn't the camera or the chip. It's the redesigned laser-drilled metal hinge plate and the jump to an 8-inch inner display (up from 7.6" on the Z Fold 7). Both point to a new chassis — which means, almost certainly, that your current Z Fold 7 case will not fit the Z Fold 8. More on that below.
We've designed cases exclusively for Samsung and Google foldables since 2022 — measured with calipers against every model at teardown, never adapted from a slab-phone shell. This guide is how to plan your Z Fold 8 case before the phone is in your hands: which design suits which kind of owner, what the new hinge changes, and the honest answer to the question everyone asks first — will my old case still fit? If you only have a minute, skip to the comparison table.
The short version
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected at Unpacked on 22 July 2026 (retail early August), from around A$3,099. For most buyers our pick is the Halo M1 aluminium MagSafe case with a 360° ring stand. If you want maximum protection for the new hinge, the Vanguard H1 (MIL-STD-810H) is the one; if you want barely-there, the Apex M1 slim. Will a Z Fold 7 case fit the Z Fold 8? Almost certainly not — the bigger display and new hinge plate change the chassis, and any change over ~1 mm needs a fresh mould. Buy your Z Fold 8 case as a Z Fold 8 case.

When does the Galaxy Z Fold 8 come out — and what's changing?
Based on the supply-chain leaks we track in our Galaxy Z Fold 8 rumor tracker, here's the short factual picture as of mid-June 2026:
- Launch: Samsung Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July 2026 (London), with pre-orders the same day and retail shipments in early August 2026.
- Price (expected): roughly A$3,099 / A$3,399 / A$3,799 for 256GB / 512GB / 1TB — flat versus the Z Fold 7.
- Inner display: grows to 8 inches (from 7.6"), 120Hz, with a brighter panel.
- Hinge & crease: a laser-drilled metal support plate said to cut visible crease by around 20% — the most case-relevant change, because it usually means a new spine geometry.
- Chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, up to 16GB RAM.
- S-Pen: still not supported on the inner display in the leaks — same as the Z Fold 7.
None of this is final until Unpacked. But the display and hinge changes alone are enough to tell you the one thing you need for case planning: the body is moving.
Will my Galaxy Z Fold 7 case fit the Galaxy Z Fold 8?
Almost certainly not — and you should plan to replace it. A bigger 8-inch inner display and a redesigned hinge plate change the unfolded footprint, the spine thickness, and the camera-island position. In every generation of foldable case design, our rule has held: any chassis change of more than about 1 mm requires a brand-new mould per case. Cutouts that are even slightly off leave the camera ring, the side buttons, or the FlexWindow misaligned — and a case that doesn't sit flush on a foldable can let dust into the hinge.
We break down exactly what carries over (and what doesn't) in our Z Fold 7 → Z Fold 8 case-designer diff. The short version: buy a Z Fold 8 case as a Z Fold 8 case. The good news is that the designs below carry straight over — we re-cut the same proven moulds for the new dimensions, so the case you like for the Z Fold 7 will have a Z Fold 8 twin at launch.

1. Halo M1 — best Galaxy Z Fold 8 case overall
Our pick · Best overall
Halo M1
Machined aluminium frame · 360° rotating MagSafe ring + stand · Z Fold 8 variant at launch
A$109.99 (guide price)
View Halo M1 →The Halo M1 is the case we'll steer most Z Fold 8 owners toward, for the same reason it tops our Z Fold 7 list: it gets the most things right at once. A precision-machined aluminium frame adds real rigidity to a folding phone, while a 360° rotating ring works as a kickstand, a finger grip and the MagSafe-style interface in one piece. On the Z Fold 7 it measures around 510g of magnetic pull — strong enough to hold a magnetic wallet on a brisk walk — and we tune every new model to the same spec.
Best for: most people who want stand, magnet and protection without compromising. Skip if: you want the thinnest possible profile (see the Apex M1). Guide price: A$109.99.
2. Vanguard H1 — best rugged case for the new hinge
Our pick · Best rugged
Vanguard H1
MIL-STD-810H drop protection · reinforced hinge guard · Z Fold 8 variant at launch
A$124.59 (guide price)
View Vanguard H1 →The new hinge plate is unproven until thousands of owners have folded it for a year — so for the first months of any new foldable, we recommend more protection than you think you need. The Vanguard H1 is our MIL-STD-810H rugged case: corner airbags, a reinforced spine guard that shields the hinge on a hinge-first drop (the most common failure mode), and raised bezels around the camera and both displays. It's the case to buy if you work outdoors, carry the phone in a bag with keys, or have broken a foldable before.
Best for: job sites, parents, anyone hard on phones. Skip if: you want slim and minimal. Guide price: A$124.59.
3. Apex M1 — best slim Galaxy Z Fold 8 case
Our pick · Best slim
Apex M1
1 mm composite shell · internal MagSafe array · Z Fold 8 variant at launch
A$69.59 (guide price)
View Apex M1 →If you take cases off because they ruin the in-hand feel, the Apex M1 is the answer. At a 1 mm high-density composite shell it's closer to a skin than a case, yet still carries an internal MagSafe-style magnet array for chargers and mounts. The trade is no ring or kickstand, and lighter magnetic pull than the Halo — fine for charging pads and car mounts, marginal for thick magnetic wallets.
Best for: minimalists keeping the Z Fold 8's slim folded profile. Skip if: you drop your phone often. Guide price: A$69.59.
4. Sentinel H1 — best hinge protection
Hinge anxiety is the number-one thing people ask us about, and the Sentinel H1 is built around it: a shock-absorbent shell with a 360° rotating ring and reinforcement focused on the spine and corners. It's a half-step between the everyday Halo and the rugged Vanguard — more protection than a slim case, less bulk than full MIL-STD armour. A strong default for owners who want peace of mind about the most expensive component to repair.
Best for: hinge-first worriers who still want a stand. Skip if: you want the lightest case. Guide price: A$109.99.
5. Axon M1 — best clear case
Samsung's new finishes are worth showing off, and the Axon M1 is our clear option — a high-transparency polycarbonate coated to resist yellowing, with an exposed 360° metallic ring that doubles as stand and grip. The caveat with any clear case: it shows micro-scratches faster than matte, so it suits careful carriers more than pocket-with-keys types.
Best for: showing the phone's colour; gifting. Skip if: you're rough on phones. Guide price: A$99.00.
6. Kinetic P1 — best for carrying a stylus
With the S-Pen still unsupported on the inner display (see our Galaxy Z Fold S-Pen guide), the smart move for note-takers is to carry a compatible stylus in the case itself. The Kinetic P1 integrates a recessed pen slot along the spine — protected, one-handed to retrieve, and it never bridges the hinge — plus MagSafe-style magnets and a stand.
Best for: stylus users upgrading from a Z Fold 5 or 6. Skip if: you never use a pen. Guide price: A$84.79.
7. Nomad C1 — best wallet case
If you'd rather leave the wallet at home, the Nomad C1 pairs a protective shell with a detachable MagSafe card holder — snap it on for a card-carry day, pull it off for wireless charging. It's a cleaner solution than a folio for foldables, which should never wrap the hinge.
Best for: card-and-phone minimalists. Skip if: you want everything built in permanently. Guide price: A$89.99.
8. Folio K1 — best for productivity
The Z Fold 8's bigger 8-inch screen makes it more of a pocket laptop than ever, and the Folio K1 leans all the way in: an all-in-one case with a Bluetooth keyboard, slim mouse, adjustable aluminium stand and stylus. It's a niche pick, but for people who genuinely work on their foldable it replaces a second device.
Best for: turning the Z Fold 8 into a productivity machine. Skip if: you just want a case. Guide price: A$229.99.
How to choose a Galaxy Z Fold 8 case
Buy for the exact model
A case made for the Z Fold 7 — or even the Z Fold 6 — will not fit the Z Fold 8. Always confirm the listing names the Z Fold 8 specifically, and select the right model variant at checkout.
Leave the hinge exposed — never bridge it
A foldable case must leave the hinge open and never wrap across it. Bridging the hinge stresses the mechanism over thousands of folds and traps heat. Look for a true two-piece design with a small, deliberate gap at the spine.
Mind the new crease plate
The Z Fold 8's redesigned hinge geometry means spine-area cutouts have to be re-measured precisely. This is exactly why a carried-over Z Fold 7 case is risky — a spine cutout that's a millimetre off can rub the new hinge cover.
Magnets come from the case, not the phone
The Z Fold 8 is expected to be Qi2 Ready, not MagSafe — there are no magnets in the phone. If you use magnetic chargers, mounts or wallets, you need a magnetic case to add the ring. Look for published pull strength of 400g or higher.
Over-protect for the first few months
A brand-new hinge design has no long-term track record on day one. For the first months we suggest more drop protection than usual — a rugged or hinge-focused case — until the new mechanism has proven itself in the field.
Match the case to how you carry
Be honest about your day: pocket-only minimalists want the Apex M1; bag-and-keys carriers want the Vanguard H1; desk-and-video-call users want a ring or kickstand. The "best" case is the one that fits your habits.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 case FAQ
When does the Galaxy Z Fold 8 come out?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be announced at Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July 2026, with pre-orders the same day and retail availability in early August 2026. These dates are based on supply-chain leaks and are not yet officially confirmed by Samsung.
How much will the Galaxy Z Fold 8 cost?
Leaks point to flat pricing versus the Z Fold 7 — roughly US$1,999 / $2,199 / $2,499 for 256GB / 512GB / 1TB, which converts to about A$3,099 / A$3,399 / A$3,799. Final pricing will be confirmed at Unpacked.
Will my Galaxy Z Fold 7 case fit the Galaxy Z Fold 8?
Almost certainly not. The Z Fold 8 is expected to have a larger 8-inch inner display and a redesigned hinge plate, which change the chassis dimensions and camera-island position. As a rule, any change over about 1 mm requires a new case mould, so a Z Fold 7 case will not align correctly. Buy a case made specifically for the Z Fold 8.
Will the Galaxy Z Fold 8 support the S-Pen?
Probably not. Samsung removed active S-Pen support from the inner display on the Z Fold 7, and no credible supply-chain leak shows a digitiser layer returning for the Z Fold 8. If you carry a stylus, choose a case with a built-in pen holder rather than relying on screen support.
Does the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have MagSafe?
No. Like the Z Fold 7, the Z Fold 8 is expected to be Qi2 Ready, meaning the phone itself has no built-in magnets. A magnetic case adds the magnet ring that lets you use MagSafe-style chargers, mounts and wallets.
What is the best Galaxy Z Fold 8 case?
For most people the best Galaxy Z Fold 8 case is an aluminium MagSafe case with a 360-degree ring stand, like the FoldifyCase Halo M1. For maximum drop protection choose a MIL-STD-810H rugged case such as the Vanguard H1; for minimal bulk choose a slim 1 mm case like the Apex M1. Z Fold 8 versions of these designs arrive at launch.
When will FoldifyCase Galaxy Z Fold 8 cases be available?
FoldifyCase re-cuts its case moulds within days of each new Samsung foldable teardown, so Z Fold 8 variants are expected shortly after the device's early-August 2026 release. The same designs are in stock now for the Z Fold 5, 6 and 7.
Should I wait for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 or buy a Z Fold 7 now?
If you need a phone in the next few weeks, the Z Fold 7 remains excellent and its cases are in stock today. If you can wait until August, the Z Fold 8's improved hinge and brighter, larger display are worth holding out for. See our Galaxy Z Fold 8 rumor tracker for a full buy-or-wait breakdown.
Our verdict
You can't buy a Galaxy Z Fold 8 case until the phone ships in August — but you can decide now. For most people the Halo M1 is the one to plan for; choose the Vanguard H1 if protecting the new hinge is your priority, or the Apex M1 if bulk is the enemy. All three will have a Z Fold 8 variant at launch, fit-tested against the real device — and all three are in stock today for the Z Fold 5, 6 and 7 if you're carrying one in the meantime.
